چکیده
Abstract Background Intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG) therapy is increasingly used in the treatment of various paediatric diseases. Data about frequency and underlying mechanisms IVIG-related adverse events (IVIG-AEs) children are limited. Objectives this study were to document incidence IVIG-AEs hospitalized patients identify risk factors for IVIG-AEs. Design/Methods In retrospective cohort study, we included aged < 18 years old who received IVIG therapy, any indication, as inpatients at a Canadian tertiary care centre between 2016-2020. Patients IVIG-perfusion characteristics collected, well AEs occurring during perfusion or up 10 days after. graded according Common Terminology Criteria Adverse Events (CTCAE) version 5.0. Bivariate multivariate logistic regressions explore associations patients’ Results We 228 (mean age: 4 years), receiving 478 infusions. Indications infusions inflammatory (120/228, 52.6%), replacement (27/228, 11.8%) auto-immune (81/228, 35.5%) disorders. A total 211 reported 89/228 (39%) patients, 125/478 (26.2%) Fever (65/478, 13.6%) was most frequent AE, followed by headache (32/478, 6.7%) tachycardia (31/478, 6.5%). Most mild (121/211, 57%) moderate (66/211, 31%) severity, but 12% (24/211) severe reactions (serious grade 3-4), no fatal (grade 5) encountered. The highest proportion occurred when administered conditions. Older age, dehydration, first infusion, higher dosage concurrent allergies significantly associated with IVIG-AEs, while steroid reduced AEs. Conclusion children. While them self-limited, more serious complications may occur. Adequate hydration, low concentrations products administration glucocorticoid prior infusion could minimize these Further research necessary prevent high-risk
